Division of Continuing Education Grade Sheets

These records are comprised of 164 bound volumes of grade sheets recording the grades of students enrolled in courses offered by the Division of Continuing Education (formerly the Evening Divisions, and prior to that the University College) from 1913/14 through 1968/69.

The grade sheet for each evening class records the course title, section number, year and semester offered, instructor's name, name of each student enrolled in the class and the final grade he or she received. Instructor's comments may be found on some sheets, and occasionally letters from instructors to the registrar concerning grade changes or related matters are appended to the appropriate sheet.

Grade sheets for evening courses offered by the School of Commerce from 1913/14 through 1925/26 are bound in ten blue binders. Grade sheets for the School of Commerce from 1926/27 through 1968/69 are bound in 70 black volumes. Grade sheets for the School of Journalism for courses offered from 1938 through 1952 are bound in two black volumes. The School of Journalism did not become a separate academic entity until 1937, hence the School's grade sheets from its inception in 1920 until 1937 are bound with those of the School of Commerce, of which it was a department. Grade sheets for evening courses in the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Music, and the School of Speech from 1926/27 through 1968/69 are bound in 82 black volumes.
