  • Abstract

The Communications Residential College (CRC) is one of eleven Residential Colleges on the Northwestern University campus. The records of the Master of the CRC were accumulated during Roger Boye’s tenure as Master of the Communications Residential College. The bulk of the records date between 1988 and 1995 and consist of administrative files, including meeting notes and agendas from the Council of Masters of the Residential Colleges, CRC resident lists, activity reports and CRC tutorial applications and planning information.

  • Scope and Contents

The records of the Master of the CRC date between 1981 and 1997 and fill two archival boxes. They consist of records accumulated during Roger Boye's tenure as Master of the Communications Residential College, and include records pertaining to the administration of the Residential Colleges in general as well as records specific to the CRC. The bulk of the records date between 1988 and 1995 and consist of administrative files, including meeting notes and agendas from the Council of Masters of the Residential Colleges, CRC resident lists, activity reports and CRC tutorial applications and planning information.

Also included are inter-office memos and newspaper clippings regarding CRC administrative problems such as building floods, ant infestations, a student who grew icicles on his dorm window, and meal-plan expenditure issues. One file contains correspondence and memos to and from Roger Boye regarding the appointment of associate masters, arrangements for guest lecturers, and other administrative matters. Event materials include flyers, menus, newspaper articles, and announcements concerning CRC events.

  • Arrangement Note

Folders are arranged alphabetically by topic, and materials within folders are arranged chronologically by date. Undated records were included at the end of the dated records in each folder. When the records for an academic year filled two folders, the undated material was placed at the end of the dated material for that year.

  • Method of Acquisition

These records were transferred to the University Archives by Roger Boye on August 6, 1996, as Accession No. 96-121.
