Scope and Contents

The records of Dance Marathon fill 13 boxes and span the years 1972-2015. Materials consist mainly of advertisements, the Dance Marathon program book, assorted records, and other materials documenting the production of the event. Also included are letters and other messages from politicians and celebrities, ranging from Chicago Mayors Jane Byrne and Richard M. Daley to President George Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush, and a video message from President Barack Obama. Other celebrities participating by appearance or letter include Cindy Crawford, Marlo Thomas, James Belushi, Seth Meyers, David Schwimmer, Adam Sandler, and the casts of Modern Family and Second City.

Abstract

The Northwestern University Dance Marathon, commonly known as NUDM, is a philanthropic dance marathon held annually during March in Evanston, Illinois on the campus of Northwestern University. The records of Dance Marathon fill 13 boxes and span the years 1972-2015.

Arrangement

The records of Dance Marathon are organized into the following groups: general materials; photographs; audiovisual material; artifacts; awards and honors; posters.

Source of Acquisition

These materials were transferred from the Northwestern University Archives General Files and combined with Accession 13-88.
