Scope and Contents
The Alfred Kuhn collection is arranged within one box and relates almost entirely to Kuhn's tennis career. The material associated with Kuhn's junior and collegiate achievements came from a scrapbook maintained by his beloved twin sister, Amy. The collection is valuable not only as a source of biographical information but also as a record of competitive tennis, played at a high level, especially during the 1940s and 1950s.

Abstract
The papers of tennis star Alfred R. ("Al") Kuhn, Jr. (NU 1956), document the world of competitive tennis, played at a high level, during the 1940s-50s. Papers include biographical material, clippings, programs, and photographs.
Arrangement
General biographical items relating to Kuhn are followed by folders of newspaper clippings pertaining to tennis tournaments, competition programs, telegrams, a draw sheet, a scorecard, certificates of ranking, and photographs. The arrangement of these materials follows the trajectory of Kuhn's life, with the contents of folders relating to major phases of his athletic career. Items within folders are in a rough chronological order.
