Scope and Contents

The Catalog Lists are alphabetical listings of students enrolled in Northwestern University's College of Liberal Arts. The Catalog lists indicate each student's class standing (freshman sophomore, etc.), and sometimes include notations regarding individual students concerning withdrawals and reinstatements.

Some academic terms are not represented within the span of the Records. From 1909 to 1911, only Summer Session Catalog Lists are included. No other Catalog Lists exist before the Second Semester of 1917/1918. The First Semester Catalog List for 1921/1922 also is missing. For the academic year 1955/1956, the Records include only the Catalog List for Fall Quarter.

These Records should be used in conjunction with catalogs and student directories in determining whether an individual was enrolled in the College.
