Syllabus Photographs, Volume 97 (1981)

This series comprises individual copies of photographs that appeared in the 1981 Northwestern University annual, the Syllabus (Volume 97). The series includes all the photographs that appeared in Volume 97 excepting color photographs and senior class portraits. (The University Archives holds a complete set of 1981 senior portraits as they appeared in the Syllabus: see Series 75/30/3.) In addition, a few photographs taken by 1981 Syllabus staff members but not appearing in the published annual are included in the series.
The photographs are printed mainly on eight inch-by-ten inch photographic paper but the dimensions of the actual images vary. The published forms of these images often are cropped to different dimensions than those of the original photographs.
The photographs are arranged sequentially into folders according to the page numbers of the Syllabus on which they appeared or, in the case of those photographs that were not published, on which they were to have appeared. Each photograph is identified on the back by a Syllabus page number. The Syllabus should be consulted as a finding aid for specific photographs as well as an index to staff photographers.
