Scope and Contents

This series consists of ninety-eight contact sheets printed from thousands of Ralf-Finn Hestoft's 35mm black-and-white negatives of photographs taken during 1979 and 1980 for the Daily Northwestern and the Syllabus. The photographs show students (informal photographs and portraits); faculty, staff, and administrators; campus scenes and events, athletics and speakers; and off-campus scenes.

Each sheet is numbered consecutively, with its number referring to an envelope holding the corresponding negatives. The contact sheets serve as a guide to the original negatives, which form a separate collection. Since not all negatives from particular series of photographs are represented in these contact prints, the negative file should be consulted for additional shots.

Abstract

This series consists of ninety-eight contact sheets printed from thousands of Ralf-Finn Hestoft's 35mm black-and-white negatives of photographs taken during 1979 and 1980 for the Daily Northwestern and the Northwestern University Syllabus yearbook. The photographs show students (informal photographs and portraits); faculty, staff, and administrators; campus scenes and events, athletics and speakers; and off-campus scenes.

Arrangement

The sheets pf contract prints are placed into folders for the following categories: students -- photographs and portraits; faculty, staff, and administrators; campus scenes and events, athletics and speakers; and off-campus scenes. Each sheet is numbered consecutively, with its number referring to an envelope holding the corresponding negatives.

Method of Acquisition

The University Archives received the negatives and contact sheets of this series on August 18, 1982 from the Syllabus office of the Students Publishing Company, Inc. (Acc. #82–167).

The original negatives are located in the University Archives' negative file under the heading, "Hestoft, Ralf-Finn."
