Daisy M. Girton (1880-1963) Papers
Scope and Contents
The Daisy M. Girton Papers include one folder of biographical materials and Girton's diaries for the years 1901 through 1905. The diaries, constituting the bulk of the series, were written for the most part during Daisy's tenure at Northwestern. They both document her academic interests and accomplishments and provide a view of contemporary student social life.
The diaries are replete with entries describing dances, parties, and recitals as well as Daisy's shopping excursions and trips to Chicago theatres. The diaries also note matters of Daisy's personal and family life and include several references to her brother, Lee; sister, Edith; and to Charles Hurrey, the man she later married.
