Edward C. Dapples (1906-2009) Papers

The Edward C. Dapples papers, filling three boxes, span the years 1938 to 1980. The papers include biographical materials, correspondence, publications files, and research and subject files.

Correspondence spans the years from 1968 to 1980. It deals largely with Dapples' association with numerous geological societies, university service, publications, and the G.S. Cady Awards. Most of the items are copies of letters from Dapples. Incoming letters are all from prospective publishers. Correspondence is arranged chronologically.

Publication files contain reprints of articles, manuscripts, and a revised encyclopedia entry authored by Dapples during the period 1938-1978. Some correspondence with publishers is included in these files. Several files pertain to Dapples' research and writing on the topic of sedimentary petrology.

Dapples' research and subject files consist mainly of notes. Also filed here are drawings, booklets, a few letters, graphs, maps, diagrams, and bibliographies on various geological subjects from the period 1940-1976.
