    Beta Alpha Psi, the national accounting fraternity, organized on February 12, 1919 at the University of Illinois. The Gamma chapter at Northwestern University was established in 1921. The series of Beta Alpha Psi membership cards fills two boxes and spans the years 1921-1980. Each membership card lists information about the member.

  • Scope and Contents

    The series of Beta Alpha Psi membership cards fills two boxes and spans the years 1921-1980. During 1980, the 3″ × 5″ cards were replaced by data forms used to create a computer data base of all members. A sample data form is in the series. The membership cards lists information about the member including: name, college address, permanent address, chapter initiated by (Gamma at Northwestern University), date of initiation, date of graduation, chapter president's signature, employers' addresses, dates employed, positions held, advanced degrees, CPA status, and whether the member was faculty, honorary, or active.

    The addition to the Beta Alpha Psi fraternity (Gamma Chapter) records consists of one volume of membership records. These records contain information relating to the member's address, high school attended, colleges attended, and membership in other clubs and associations. The records are contained in the volume in reverse chronological order, from 1934 to 1921.

  • Method of Acquisition

    The University Archives received the series from Carol Cahill, Kellogg Graduate School of Management on September 15, 1988 (Accession #88-215). The University Archives received the addition to the records from Carol Cahill, Kellogg Graduate School of Management on July 17, 1990 (Accession #90-83).
