The series consists of materials pertaining to the School Board election of 1970, as well as a welfare relief commission in 1962. They correspond closely to, overlap or duplicate materials found in Northwestern University Archives Series 55/44, the Records of Citizens for 65. The descriptive inventory to that series provides an overview to the issues, key events and personalities of the 1970 campaign. The slate of Papangelis, Bennett Johnson and Robert Marks represented Citizens for 65 on a platform supporting controversial school superintendent Gregory C. Coffin in his efforts to integrate Evanston elementary schools.
Materials found here include copies of publications, speeches, press releases and clippings, reports, campaign manuals, and correspondence. Originally contained within a three-ring binder, materials have been retained in their original order.
