Scope and Contents

This series consists of two bound volumes containing the minutes of the Board of Personnel Administration from its establishment in 1936 through May 13, 1942. The minutes document discussions and actions of the Board on such matters as reading clinics, tutorial services, and counseling for students; surveys of social conditions on the Evanston campus; fraternity and sorority rushing procedures; and the Negro and Jewish “problems,” particularly with regard to possible integration of student housing.

The minutes are divided into four chronological segments, the first three of which are preceded by alphabetical subject indexes.

Method of Acquisition

These volumes were previously part of the University Archives' general reference files; their original provenance is unknown. Accession #85-157 was assigned at the time of processing.
