Scope and Contents
The Dorr Collection consists of manuscripts, documents, journal entries, and family correspondence written between 1837 and 1902. The major portion of the material concerning Col. Joseph B. Dorr covers the years 1861-1865. During this time Col. Dorr wrote letters to his wife, Mary Bartoo Dorr (1823- 1896) and often kept a journal, even during his imprisonment in 1862. Letters to Mary Bartoo Dorr from her sister, parents, and Laura M. Knowlton are part of the collection as well.
