Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The collection consists of the design archive of the 2016 Janus Press edition of The Silences Between (Moeraki Conversations). It is housed in ten custom-made labeled and numbered volumes measuring 12” high x 11” deep x 2 ¾” wide. Contents include papers, books, and photographs documenting the design process of the edition. Volume one contains the manuscript text, notes from the author and Van Vliet, and miscellaneous correspondence; volume two contains text type proofs. Volume three contains various book proofs and a binding proof; volume four contains glossary and map proofs. Volumes five and six contain image proofs and photographs. Volume seven contains a box trial; volume eight contains two trial bindings. Volume nine contains Keri Hulme’s copy and notes of the bone people, paper samples, and a final map insert; volume ten includes research materials on Hulme and Moeraki.
