Hans Christian Andersen Awards
Scope and Contents
The Charles Deering McCormick Library’s collection of materials for the Hans Christian Andersen Awards (presented by the International Board on Books for Young People) consists of the biennial dossiers for 1992-2014, as well as photocopies of selections from texts or illustrations produced by candidates, clippings, reviews, and dust jackets from award books and other books by some of the authors or illustrators.

Abstract
Since 1956, the International Board on Books for Young People has presented the Hans Christian Andersen Award to a living author or (since 1966) illustrator who has made a lasting contribution to children's literature. The McCormick Library’s collection of materials for the Hans Christian Andersen Awards consists of the biennial informational dossiers submitted by candidates for 1992-2006, clippings, reviews, and dust jackets by some of the authors or illustrators.

The dossiers are arranged in chronological order.
Method of Acquisition
Jeffrey Garrett, Northwestern University Assistant University Librarian for Collection Management, served on the IBBY Hans Christian Andersen Awards Jury several times and arranged for the donations of the dossiers to the McCormick Library of Special Collections and the award books to the Curriculum Collection of Northwestern University Library.

The books accompanying the dossiers have been cataloged for the Northwestern University Library and may be found in the library's online catalog.
