Abstract

This modest collection of conservative political materials consists mostly of newspaper ephemera surrounding the 1964 national and local elections, Barry Goldwater’s candidacy, and the John Birch Society. Included as well are some pamphlets and serials on these topics and miscellaneous information on other right wing organizations.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

The collection was part of a larger donation to Northwestern University Library by Elizabeth H. Bennett in 1974, most of which is in the University Archives because it consists of the papers of her husband, Howard F. Bennett, professor of business history from 1946 - 1968.

Related Materials

For additional political material see the Dawes Collection, Republican National Committee (XCII), America First Collection (X), Committee to Defend America by Aiding the Allies (LXVII), 1968 Democratic National Convention (LXI), and the general political pamphlet collection.
