Col. Robert R. McCormick relied on the staff of the Chicago Tribune Library for research in the preparation of books, articles and speeches. This extensive collection consists of his requests for information, and replies to these requests. The largest portion of these responses are signed by Librarians Mildred Burke (from 1929 to 1944) and Charles Smutny and Elston Bradfield (from 1945 to 1955).
