Custodial History

This material was turned over to the Tribune Company Archives in July 1987 by Claude Smith, vice president of the McCormick Charitable Trust, as the Trusts's offices were being moved out of Room 1231, Tribune Tower.

Some of the papers had come from the files of William N. Clark, who had been secretary of the Tribune Company before he became executive director of the Charitable Trust.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Received from the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, Chicago Tribune Company, and Nexstar Media Group on January 10, 2020, accession #SPEC-2020-1.

Related Materials

Some materials have been filed in X-4 VF (stockholders' meetings) and X-8 VF (annual and quarterly reports). Series I-145 contains additional material about McCormick's estate (including earlier financial transactions)

Processing Information

The 4 bound volumes of minutes and other material were discovered in the mass of unprocessed material received from the Tribune Company Archives, and added to this collection in 2021
