Received from the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, Chicago Tribune Company, and Nexstar Media Group on January 10, 2020, accession #SPEC-2020-1.

Processing Information

On 1976-01-16, Les Bridges of the Promotion Department presented to the Tribune Company Archives a manuscript copy of volume 1 of The Chicago tribune: its first hundred years. It appears to have been proofread by the publisher. In 1980-01 the Advertising/Marketing Department presented to the Archives manuscript copies of Liberty and the press, by Kinsley, and his manuscript of an unpublished history of the Ontario Paper Company. Included was material related to a proposed 4th volume of Tribune history by James M. Cleary. This added material is in box 4.

On 1983-07-19, 13 folders of Kinsley manuscripts were found in a back corner of the back room of the Tribune Company Archives. Some are original typed copies marked for Col. McCormick; some are carbon copies marked for Mr. Beck. Duplicates were removed; the remaining materials are in box 5.
