Scope and Contents

These photographic transparencies show Col. Robert R. McCormick, Maryland McCormick (his second wife), his associates and properties. The images include reunions of the First Division at Cantigny Farm, and the 80th birthday celebration for Weymouth Kirkland (McCormick's former law partner). Most of the images are black and white negatives, but the collection also includes a few color positive transparencies.

There are no restrictions on use of the materials in the department for research; all patrons must comply with federal copyright regulations. This collection is stored off-site and requires two business days advance notice for retrieval. Abstract

These photographic transparencies show Col. Robert R. McCormick, Maryland McCormick (his second wife), his associates and properties. Most of the images are black and white negatives, but the collection also includes a few color positive transparencies.

Arrangement

The transparencies have been sorted into broad groups, by their subject matter. Within each group, the images are arranged by date.

Immediate Source of Acquisition

Received from the Robert R. McCormick Foundation, Chicago Tribune Company, and Nexstar Media Group on January 10, 2020, accession #SPEC-2020-1.

Processing Information

These photographic negatives were found scattered throughout a box of negatives chiefly illustrating events at the time of the Tribune's 100th anniversary celebration. With a few exceptions, the negatives were contained in envelopes variously labeled with captions, date, and other information. These negatives were formerly assigned the temporary identifiers I-152, I-153, I-154, and I-155
