Scope and Contents

This series consists of a single scrapbook of photographs and other items highlighting the collection of memorabilia related to the Century of Progress International Exhibition (Chicago, 1933/1934) created by James A. Moran of Fort Wayne, Indiana. An exhibition of Moran's collection was held (in both 1982 and 1983) at the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Museum in Auburn, Indiana.

Prompted by an article in the Tribune Sunday magazine that featured a different collection of memorabilia from the exhibition, Moran wrote to Stanton R. Cook of the Chicago Tribune, suggesting that his own collection could serve as the basis for a fuller article on fair memorabilia on the occasion of some future anniversary of the fair.

This collection includes photographs of the exhibition, correspondence, admission tickets, volume IX number 3 (1982) of The accelerator (journal of the Auburn-Cord-Duesenberg Museum) containing an article on the 1982 exhibition of Moran's collection, and other related items.

    Arrangement

    The photographs and other materials were originally contained in a self-adhesive scrapbook. The materials have been transferred to appropriate containers, preserving to the extent possible the original order.
