The Tavern Guild of San Francisco collection is comprised of one box and spans 1965-1992. The 418 page collection mainly consist of the TGSF newsletters, which provided members with meeting minutes, financial and membership reports, community announcements and upcoming events, and lists of unemployed bartenders and patron who wrote bad checks. Also within the collection are administrative and membership correspondences, flyers, and membership applications and surveys. The 8.5 x11 mimeograph newsletters are arraigned chronologically and document more than 20 years of the advocacy, organizing, fundraising and promotional work of TGSF.

Abstract

The Tavern Guild of San Francisco (TGSF) was founded in 1962 when an informal drinking group of gay bar owners and bartenders created an organization to share news, socialize and protect their community from discriminatory laws.The Tavern Guild of San Francisco collection is comprised of one box and spans 1965-1992. The 418 page collection mainly consist of the TGSF newsletters, which provided members with meeting minutes, financial and membership reports, community announcements and upcoming events, and lists of unemployed bartenders and patron who wrote bad checks.
