Ray to Alfred Cowles on September 1, 1861, and ending with the transfer of 1,050 shares from the Medill trustees to themselves on February 21, 1910 (when Katharine McCormick took the place of her husband, Robert S. McCormick, who had resigned)

Scope and Contents "Shepard & McCormick" envelope numbered "2" and labelled "Will of Joseph Medill in his own handwriting dated June 16, 1886," in what appears to be Robert R. McCormick's handwriting; but actually containing the original of Medill's letter of that date "to my wife and daughters" regarding the future of the Chicago Tribune.The folder also contains two typed copies of this letter: one in envelope "3"...
