Established in 1958 as a Northwestern University campus magazine, TriQuarterly took its name from the frequency of its publication schedule: one issue for each academic quarter of the year. Northwestern's circus began in 1908 as a YWCA fundraiser outside of the old Willard Hall (later the Music Administration Building) and then moved to the once-huge Patten Gym.
