He played football for the Chicago Bears, becoming player-coach, and serving as co-head coadh during World War II. He remained with the Bears until 1968. Northwestern football star Thomas Welborn Myers was the starting quarterback for the Wildcats in the 1962 season under coach Ara Parseghian. He was named All-American and All-Time All American, and went on to play for the Detroit Lions.
