Karen DeCrow (1937-2014) Papers

Abstract Karen DeCrow was a lawyer, writer, activist in the women's liberation movement of the 1970s, president of the National Organization for Women from 1974-1977, and a proponent of gender equality in all areas. DeCrow’s collection consists of papers, audio, video, and artifactual materials documenting her life and work.

Deering Library Construction Photographs

Abstract The series consists of four binders of black and white photographs documenting the construction process and the newly finished structure of the Charles Deering Library at Northwestern University. With two or three exceptions, all photographs were taken by the Chicago Architectural Photographing Company. The photographs document each state in the building's construction, from bare ground to completed but windowless exterior; and show the completed building (both general views, and details).

Abstract The Frederick Shipp Deibler Papers, comprising five and one-half boxes, consist principally of general correspondence and subject files, plus a small amount of biographical material. The Papers provide a rich documentary record of Deibler's academic career, his role as an economic advisor to several government boards and his participation in activities related to some of the major social issues of his time.

Abstract Ralph Brownell Dennis was born September 21, 1876, in Tama, Iowa. He received a diploma from Northwestern’s School of Oratory in 1897 and a Bachelor of Letters degree from the University’s College of Liberal Arts in 1901, and then became a member of the School of Oratory faculty. Dennis became the Associate Director in 1913, Director in 1916, and Dean of the School in 1919, serving until his retirement in 1942. Abstract The Northwestern University Dental School Deceased Alumni Records consist of three card-file boxes of 3” x 5” index cards containing information about alumni/alumnae of the Dental School. The records span the years 1892 to 1947 and consist of file cards. Graduates include dental hygienists as well as dentists. Information on each card is generally sparse, limited in most cases to graduation year, address at graduation, last known address, date of death, and source of information.

Abstract This series, filling one box, is comprised of records relating to three courses offered by the French and Italian Department. The records span the years from 1956 to 1976, but are quite scattered. They cluster mainly within the period 1957-1961. The series includes work sheets, quizzes, mid-term examinations, alternate and make-up final exams and correspondence. The quizzes and exams consist of a mixture of master copies and graded copies.
