Wilhelm Deffke Papers, 1927-1949

Abstract This small archive of Wilhelm Deffke materials consists of manuscripts on Deffke’s life and work, correspondence, and printed ephemera. Manuscript materials include an autobiographical account of his life and career, and notes and schematic drawings for his project, “Grammatik der Formensprache,” (1945). Correspondence is between Deffke and some associates including Carl Ernst Hinkefuss. Examples of printed ephemera and newspaper clippings with examples of his graphic work are included.

Abstract The Carl Weissner Archive consists of correspondence, tapes of poetry readings, manuscripts and graphic materials by international avantgarde writers of the 1960s, and some monographs and serials related to these authors. Included are works by such authors as William Burroughs, Harold Norse, Ezra Pound, Charles Bukowski, Claude Pélieu, Mary Beach, Dan Georgakas, Donatella Manganotti, and Jan Herman, as well as Carl Weissner himself. Many of these artists were part of the Fluxus movement.
