This series, filling five boxes, contains course material files used in Northwestern University's English Department, 1964-1985. English Department Graduate Student Doctoral Examination Records
This series is comprised of English Department doctoral qualifying examinations from the period 1956-1977. Most of the examinations date between 1974 and 1977 and typically include both examination questions and candidates' written responses. Completing the series is one folder of examination questions from the period 1956-1964.
Harriet Gilliam (1944-1993) Papers
Harriet Sue Gilliam was an Assistant and later Associate Professor of English at Northwestern University from 1971 until her death in 1993. The Harriet Gilliam Papers fill twenty-seven boxes and span the years from 1962 through 1993. They are organized into six main categories: biographical material, correspondence, files relating to Carlo Maria Giulini, educational files, teaching and research files, and writings.
Virgil Barney Heltzel (1896 - 1976) Papers
Virgil Barney Heltzel began his teaching career at Northwestern University's English Department, and remained there until his retirement as a professor of English in 1962. His papers are sparse.
