1949 Rose Bowl Collection

Abstract This collection holds an assortment of items pertaining to the 1949 Rose Bowl football game, which Northwestern won over the California Golden Bears. Items include media clippings, expense reports, souvenir programs, train menus, and other materials documenting the game, the participation of the NU Marching Band, the trip to and from Los Angeles, and related celebratory events.

Abstract Isaac Arthur Abt, pediatrician and Northwestern University Medical School professor, began his practice in internal medicine but gravitated to pediatrics, with a particular intererst in nutrion, and became one of the earliest specialists in the field. The Isaac Arthur Abt Papers are arranged in six main categories: biographical material; class and teaching notes; publications; addresses; clinics; and material by or related to I. A. Abt's elder son, Arthur Frederick.

Karl Abt (1923- ) Papers

Abstract Karl Abt graduated in 1948 with a B.S. in Business Administration (concentration in business management/personnel). While at Northwestern, Abt was active in the NU Band, playing clarinet and bass clarinet, the Christian Youth League, and was a member of the Sigma Nu fraternity. The Karl Abt Papers, filling four boxes, consists of materials from the courses Abt attended. Course syllabi, class notes, tests, and a few short reading assignments are included.
