Marjorie May Cowan (1911-2012) Papers

Abstract Cowan obtained a B.S. degree in Liberal Arts from Northwestern University in 1933. As a member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority she was active in campus activities and social affairs. The Marjorie May Cowan papers are arranged in one half-size box and date from 1929-1934, 1949, and 1984. The bulk of the papers is comprised of Cowan's diaries. During the years 1932 through 1934 she kept detailed accounts of her social and academic activities and interests.

Abstract Cox taught History at Northwestern from 1919 until his retirement in 1941. The Isaac Joslin Cox Papers are arranged in seven main categories, plus two additions to the series. These categories are: biographical and miscellaneous materials; Aaron Burr Material; James P. Wilkinson Material; Harry Innes Material; West Florida Material; William Shaler Material; John Breckenridge Material. Most of the materials are copies of documents from other repositories that Cox used in his research.

He is President of his family-owned publication company, Crain Communications, and serves as editor-in-chief of Advertising Age and several other publications. It was founded in 1962 by Northwestern University alumni Gordon and Carole Segal. Crate and Barrel's corporate name is Euromarket Designs, Inc. and is based in Northbrook, Illinois. It has two sister brands, CB2 and Land of Nod/Crate & Kids. The company is privately held and since 2008 owned by the Otto Group of Hamburg, Germany.

Abstract These studies, produced by the management consultant firm of Cresap, McCormick and Paget, Inc., were commissioned by the University administration in an effort to decrease the size of the clerical and secretarial staff of the University. Each study is discrete and includes a brief review of the history of the department under consideration, analysis of its operation in 1976/77, and an evaluation of the efficiency with which it makes use of nonprofessional staff.

Cuneo Studio Materials

Abstract The Cuneo Press, Inc. was started in 1907 by John Frank Cuneo (1884-1977) and quickly became Chicago's second largest printing firm. The Cuneo Studio archival collection is comprised of four boxes and spans the years 1751-2014. The collection was donated to Northwestern University Library in 1977, after the closure of the Cuneo Fine Binding Studio. The records were generated by the Cuneo Fine Binding Studio, which was established in 1926 by the Cuneo Press, Inc.
