DeCoster taught Spanish at Northwestern University for 16 years. He was the author of 11 books and 35 scholarly articles. DeCoster's research focused on 19th century Spanish literature. The Cyrus C. DeCoster Papers fill one box and span the years 1948-1999. The material summarizes Professor DeCoster's academic work, and is divided into six subseries: biographical material, published articles, book reviews, reviews of books, “Pardo Bazán” drafts, and Juan Valera research material.

Karen DeCrow was a lawyer, writer, activist in the women's liberation movement of the 1970s, president of the National Organization for Women from 1974-1977, and a proponent of gender equality in all areas. Abstract On February 2, 1936, Roger Deering, son of Charles Deering, died in his home in Albuquerque, leaving Northwestern University more than $6 million. This bequest, as noted by Northwestern's President Walter Dill Scott in his report for 1935-1936, was the latest in a long series of donations to the university from members of the Deering family. Wilhelm Deffke Papers, 1927-1949

Abstract

This small archive of Wilhelm Deffke materials consists of manuscripts on Deffke’s life and work, correspondence, and printed ephemera. Manuscript materials include an autobiographical account of his life and career, and notes and schematic drawings for his project, “Grammatik der Formensprache,” (1945). Correspondence is between Deffke and some associates including Carl Ernst Hinkefuss. Examples of printed ephemera and newspaper clippings with examples of his graphic work are included.

The Frederick Shipp Deibler Papers, comprising five and one-half boxes, consist principally of general correspondence and subject files, plus a small amount of biographical material. The Papers provide a rich documentary record of Deibler's academic career, his role as an economic advisor to several government boards and his participation in activities related to some of the major social issues of his time.

Abstract Ralph Brownell Dennis received a diploma from Northwestern University’s School of Oratory in 1897 and a Bachelor of Letters degree from the University’s College of Liberal Arts in 1901. He became a member of the School of Oratory faculty, its Associate Director in 1913, its Director in 1916, and Dean of the School in 1919, serving until his retirement in 1942. The Northwestern University Dental School Deceased Alumni Records consist of three card-file boxes of 3” x 5” index cards containing information about alumni/alumnae of the Dental School. The records span the years 1892 to 1947 and consist of file cards. Graduates include dental hygienists as well as dentists. Information on each card is generally sparse, limited in most cases to graduation year, address at graduation, last known address, date of death, and source of information.
