Abstract Arthur J. Freeman (1930-2016) was chair of the Physics Department at Northwestern University, 1967-2014. He was a solid-state theorist interested in the electronic and magnetic properties of rare-earth and other transition metals. Abstract Rudolf Frerichs came to Northwestern University in 1947, to work as a research investigator in the Department of Physics. In 1956 he was appointed professor of electrical engineering in the Technological Institute. This small collection of papers includes biographical materials, correspondence, and research files, and spans the period 1947 to 1983; most of the material falls between 1947 and 1965.

Frank Galati (1943-) Papers

Abstract The Frank Galati Papers fill 38 boxes and span the years 1948-2006; the bulk of the papers date between 1965 and 2005. The papers consist mostly of scripts and other notes from the plays he wrote, directed or in which he acted. Biographical files include personal information about Galati and his family. They also include resumes (Box 1, Folder 1), drafts of speeches he made (Box 1, Folder 6) and materials from awards he received and workshops he attended (Box 1, Folder 7).

David Gascoyne Library Collection

Abstract David Gascoyne was born October 10, 1916 in Harrow, London, England. He published his first book of poetry in 1932 at the age of 16, and his subsequent publications quickly established his reputation as one of a small group of English surrealists. This collection includes greeting cards, postcards, letters, pamphlets, and various ephemera removed from books that were part of Gascoyne’s personal library, and were purchased by the Charles Deering McCormick Library of Special Collections.
