The Vernon Anderson Papers

Overview The papers in this collection were generated by Rev. Vernon Anderson, a Presbyterian missionary. They include personal correspondence, correspondence and reports which Rev. Anderson received while serving on the Commission pour la protection des indigènes, ethnographic notes on the Baluba, field notes taken during meetings with informants in Baluba villages, detailed genealogical clan lists, typescript and photocopies of scholarly papers and articles, newspaper clippings, and notecard files.

Abstract This collection of architectural drawings, dating between 1932 and 1965 and filling one box, is arranged into four sub series: elevations, floor plans, floor plans: photo copies & alternate drawings, and measurement & detail alterations. The drawings represent most of the buildings on the Northwestern campus around the mid 1950s, including houses. Items within each folder are arranged alphabetically by building name.

The courses included are A20 Highlights of Astronomy, C10 Advanced General Astronomy, C50 History of Astronomy, D16 Interstellar Medium, Galactic Structure and Galaxies, and D20 Seminar: Topics in Astrophysics. The papers are mainly from Professor J. Allen Hynek's C50 History of Astronomy course and bulk during the period from 1973 through 1976.
