Daniel Bonbright Papers

Abstract

During Daniel Bonbright’s 54-year career at Northwestern University (1856-1902), he taught Latin, served as University Librarian, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts, and interim President from 1900 to 1902. He was instrumental in shaping the University’s early curriculum, establishing the Library, and getting University Hall built. This sparse collection of his papers offers an overview of his life and legacy.

Gray C. Boyce taught medieval history at Northwestern University from 1946 until his retirement in the spring of 1967. He served as Department Chair, 1948-1966. The Gray Boyce Papers are held in three and a half archival boxes and divided into three subseries: Biographical, Scholarly and Correspondence. The bulk of the materials are in the Correspondence series.

Elisabeth Blossom Boyd Diary

Abstract

Elisabeth and her sister, Litta (Zolitta), of Green Bay, Wisconsin, attended Northwestern University for one year. The diary is a 7-1/4″ x 4-1/2″ notebook containing one hundred lined pages. The diary starts with Elisabeth and Litta's departure for Chicago on September 17, 1903 and ends on April 26, 1904; the last entry is followed by the notation “Continued in Volume II.”
