Abstract Steuart Henderson Britt was born in Fulton, Missouri, on June 16, 1907. In 1957 Britt received a dual appointment at Northwestern University as Professor of Marketing in the School of Commerce and Professor of Advertising in the Medill School of Journalism. Abstract Willson Brumback's Scrapbook documents Northwestern's triumphal 1916 football season in seventeen pages of newspaper clippings. Seven pages of clippings are devoted to the October 21, 1916, game at Stagg Field, when the Northwestern Purple beat the Chicago Maroons 10-0, NU's first win over Chicago since 1901. Abstract Dennis Brutus was a South African anti-apartheid activist, poet, and educator. The Dennis Brutus Defense Committee was formed in response to efforts by the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service to deport him following the invalidation of his Rhodesian passport. Abstract The C. M. Clay Buntain Scrapbook documents Buntain's activities at Northwestern between 1894 and 1902. Abstract Robert Lemmon Burwell, Jr. was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on May 6, 1912. He earned his B.S. at St. John's College in 1932 and his Ph.D. in chemistry at Princeton in 1936. Burwell was an instructor in chemistry at Trinity College (now Duke University) from 1936 to the spring of 1939 before joining the faculty at Northwestern University in the fall of 1939 as an instructor in chemistry. John Cage correspondence

Scope and Contents The Cage Correspondence collection is comprised of correspondence and ephemera including letters, cards, clippings, catalogs, photographs, negatives, cassette tapes, music scores, and art.  Early materials focus on family correspondence and newspaper clippings and are interspersed with Cage's own notes and manuscripts.  Later correspondence is enhanced through Cage's use of "Note-o-Grams" which provides carbon copies of his sent messages.

Abstract John Cage was already established as an influential American composer and important leader of post-World War II avant-garde music when he began his Notations project in the mid-1960s. Ali Bulent Cambel (1923-2014) Papers

Abstract Cambel joined the Northwestern University faculty as Associate Professor of Mechanical Engineering in 1953. His research involved mechanical engineering, gas dynamics, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and propulsion systems. He holds the patent on flame stabilization in jet engines. The Ali Bulent Cambel Papers fill two and one half archival boxes and include biographical materials, publication drafts and correspondence, and a teaching file.

Abstract In the first decade of the twentieth century Northwestern University became concerned with developing a coherent architectural and landscape plan for its Evanston campus. This series documents the efforts of the Campus Commission to solicit and select a comprehensive design. While most of the records date from the period 1909-1910, the series also includes two 1905 letters from Daniel Burnham and George Maher's 1907 study.

Abstract The records of the Canadian Studies Program were separated from the R. Barry Farrell Papers (Series 11/3/22/10) which should also include material relating to the Program. The records, which span the period 1973-1991, occupy six boxes and are arranged in five main categories: basic documents, correspondence, financial records, fund raising, and Quebec fellowships. Small amounts of material on research and trips are also included.
