Abstract Oswald Werner joined the faculty of Northwestern in 1963 and remained until his retirement in 1998. His research focused on linguistics as well as cultural anthropology, particularly as they related to the Navajo. The Oswald Werner Papers fill forty-one boxes and span the years 1959 to 2007. Abstract This collection contains articles and statements collected and organized in 1946 by Wilhelm Wexelsen from Norsk Artikkeltjeneste, the Norwegian News Service which operated during World War II. Material in this collection, which also includes propaganda, originated between 1943 and 1945. The collection includes propaganda materials from the AKI, "Anti-Communism Institute," between 1944 and 1945.

Frances E. Willard (1839-1898) Journal Transcriptions

Abstract The series consists of a photocopy of approximately 2000 pages of typed transcriptions of journals kept by Frances E. Willard between 1855 and 1896 (the original hand-written journal totals over 8,000 pages). Willard kept journals continuously from the age of 16 to 31, and then from age 54 to 57. The journals are an invaluable resource for understanding the life and thought of one of the most important American women of the nineteenth century.

Willie the Wildcat Mascot Costumes and Costume Elements

Abstract This collection contains two costumes worn to embody the Northwestern University mascot, Willie the Wildcat. The costumes date from circa 1991-1995 and circa 1997-2000, and were generally employed at Northwestern athletic events. Each costume includes an oversized caricature wildcat head; an artificial fur suit worn over arms, legs, and torso; gloves; and footwear. The collection also includes additional costume elements.
