Stjopka collages

Abstract The Stjopka collages include 301 paper collages from an artist known only as Stjopka (1956-). Presumably a pseudonym, very little is known about the artist. Based on birthdate, Stjopka would have created the work in this collection starting at approximately eleven years old. The collages are composed of colored paper and decorative found elements. Theodore Stone (1895-1962) Papers

Abstract

The series includes one folder of general biographical materials and four volumes of Stone's notes from School of Law courses. Bound after the completion of his studies, the notes are found in a loose alphabetical arrangement by course subject or title. They are handwritten and meticulous and represent a record of the School of Law curriculum during the early twentieth century.

Wilson Stone (1927-2020) was a lyricist, composer, conductor and pianist. He wrote for the Waa-Mu Show as a Northwestern University student. After graduating, he worked as a composer in New York City, where he wrote industrial musicals and composed lyrics for Paramount Studios.

Student Life Chapin Hall Files

Abstract

Chapin Hall was erected in 1901 on property owned by Northwestern University, with funds provided by Dr. O.K. Pearsons. Pearsons stipulated that the new dormitory at 726 University Place be put in the charge of the Women's Educational Association to house up to 60 financially disadvantaged women. This series consists chiefly of records of Chapin Hall's financial transactions from 1968 to 1975.

Abstract

The Study Club, a women's literary circle, met weekly from 1896 - 1970 for the purpose of "study and mutual improvement." It was based in the Hyde Park neighborhood of Chicago. Each year the group selected a topic for study and each member then wrote an extended paper about a facet of the topic. At each meeting one of these papers was read to the group.
