Scope and Contents The Louis Norton Dodge papers, filling one half-size box and one expandable binder, consist of a thin file of general biographical items along with a small collection of musical compositions. Those compositions are categorized as student exercise books, teaching material, and musical manuscripts and transcriptions. The papers are reflective, certainly, of Dodge’s life and interests but also of the School of Music’s pedagogy during the years of his association with Northwestern.

Abstract Gui (Guillaume) Mombaerts toured Europe as a pianist following his 1926 Prix Gunther win and 1927 finalist position in the International Chopin Piano Competition. Mombaert begin his career in the academy as piano instructor in 1923. He joined the faculty of Northwestern University's School of Music in 1948, and served as Ralph Votapek piano instructor in this position.
