Abstract Ernest Samuels entered the University of Chicago as a pre-law student in 1919. He received a Bachelor of Philosophy in Law and French in 1923 and immediately entered the University of Chicago Law School. In 1930 he then returned to Chicago to pursue a long standing interest in literature.
