Biography

The Northwestern University Center for Nursing was established in 1979, initially offering only a baccalaureate program. The program was accredited by the National League for Nursing in 1980, and the first class graduated in December, 1980. In 1981 a graduate program was initiated. 

The baccalaureate program graduated general practicing nurses who could provide professional care in a variety of settings. The graduate program prepared advanced practitioners who could function in specialized and advanced nursing roles in clinical practice, nursing administration, education, and research.
