Biography

Charles J. Gallagher applied for a temporary position with the Office of U.S. Chief of Counsel, Administrative Division of the U.S. Army, as a court reporter for the Nuremberg Trials. He was in Nuremberg from 1945-1946 and 1947-1950; his family joined him the second trip. Charles J. Gallagher attended Northwestern University Law School (class of 1924) and worked and lived in the Chicago area.

Charles Gallgher died on January 4, 1988.

Abstract The Nuremberg Trial Collection consists of materials amassed by Charles J. Gallagher (Northwestern University Law School, 1924), a court reporter. Included are his shorthand notebooks for sessions of the Nuremberg Trials held at the Palace of Justice in Nuremberg, Germany from 1945-1948 to try members of the Nazi regime for crimes committed during World War II.
