Inscribed: STP:PH1; typed label with text: "A very useful type of basket known as Akpan Oforoko made by Ibo women for carrying market head loads. They measure 21" x 11 1/2" and are much appreciated by Europeans for needlework baskets and office papers since they are light and capacious. Almost every basket shows individual design in the pattern woven in the sides. An account of the making of Akpan oforoko was printed in "Nigeria" no. 13"
