Rex Cinema opened in 1937. The building appears still (2018) to be in existence (on the west side of the street now called Independence Link, at the intersection with Nii Kwei Boadu Road)

Originally contained in an envelope (6N:6:t/DW_02744) with the caption "Gold Coast. Trees at Achimota. Agriculturist (European/Achimota). Gardens at Accra Prisile (?). Palms [at Accra]. Clouds [at Accra]. Rex Cinema. Garden, Agric. Dept. Achimota Police Station. Java almond without leaves"
