General

The identification as Eucalyptus alba appears to be incorrect. Additional pencil markings on the verso are covered by the typed label

Inscribed: in ink: "(19)"; in black pencil: "(J)"; typed label with text: "Flowers of white bum (Eucalyptus alba). This eucalyptus is a native of northern Australia. It grows very easily from seeds and soonforms a lofty tree with smooth, white bark and slender drooping branches. It flowers several times a year and fruits freely at Lagos. The leaves are richly charged with eucalyptus oil. They grow in a more or less edge on osition relative to the midday sun and the back and front surfaces of the leaves have an identical appearance. Oil can be extracted from the leaves by a process of distillation"; in black pencil: "3574/19"; in black pencil: "N280"; instructions for reproducing the image
