Small quarto (25x 22 cm.), containing 116 silver print snapshots (each approximately 11 x 7 cm.), mainly captioned, some with long annotations. Mounted on the first album leaf is a ferrotype (also known as a tintype), showing Squiers on horseback with a colleague and two Italian boys, in front of Mt. Vesuvius. Then follows the African content.

Dates: 1912-1914

This is really a large herd of game leaping the river at sunset. They are some 200 yards off. The black spots on the skyline are wildebeast or [unintelligible]. Some light specks can be seen under the cross but the whole picture is really a moving mass.

The house. My boy Waeru holding Tinga. The front of the house is covered with geraniums, a big blue flowered creeper, and nasturtiums which grow like a creeper.
