This collection consists of 919 rail and bus timetables from the United States and Canada collected by Mr. John A. Swider, of Mount Prospect, Illinois. The collection comprises timetables issued 1880 through 2006, with the majority dating from the 1930s through the 1990s. It includes timetables focused on the Chicago metropolitan area, and on travel to the San Francisco, Chicago, and New York World’s Fairs.

Significant events: Form 2. Grand Central Terminal, New York City, gateway to the New York World's Fair. This, obviously, is Travel America Year. The World's Fair at New York and the Golden Gate Exposition at San Francisco add their magnetic interest to the natural beauties of this great land of ours. See America this year. You can do it at an astonishingly low cost. The time shown in this folder is standard time, one hour slower than daylight saving time.
