Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Block Gallery and Museum Clippings Files span the years of 1999-2013 and mainly comprise articles, advertisements, press releases, and event clippings from local newspapers and magazines pertaining to exhibitions and events at the museum and the Block Cinema. These clippings cover events such as, the display of rare artworks by American sculptor David Smith (2001), the exhibition of Alfred Hitchcock's sketches, storyboards, and designs (2007), and the photography exhibition, film screenings, and lecture by Gordon Parks (2009). Arranged chronologically in folders comprising four boxes, this collection provides an overview of museum offerings to the community over fourteen years. Of particular interest are the clippings and articles related to the expansion of the museum and its subsequent reopening (1999-2000).
