Scope and Contents
The Wallis S. Hamilton papers fill eleven boxes and span the period 1935-1984. They are into five principal categories: education files, correspondence, teaching files, research and consulting files and publications. Also included are five folders of biographical materials.
The education files include lecture and reading notes and some sutdent papers from Hamilton's undergraduate and graduate courses. A copy of his doctoral dissertation is filed in Folder 8, Box 11.
The correspondence files contain material related to Hamilton's teaching, research, and writing. There are few personal letters.
The teaching files, occupying almost seven boxes, consist of lecture notes, problems and exams, grade books, and syllabi.
The research and consulting files include correspondence, notes, and reports. Hamilton frequently served as a consultant for a variety of firms on a broad range of subjects.
The publications files also contain correspondence, notes, and reports.
