Correspondence - Congratulatory Letters to Phi Epsilon Chapter, 1938
Scope and Contents
This series, filling one box, is comprised primarily of the records of the Society's corresponding secretary, Professor Alphonse Roche. The records span the years 1938-1956, with the bulk of the material between 1938 and 1952. Included is the constitution, by-laws, rituals, correspondence, a ledger, membership lists and cards, national newsletters with articles about members from Northwestern University, and a small amount of minutes, reports, and programs. There are also programs from conventions of the Association of College Honor Societies, of which Phi Sigma Iota was a member. The correspondence between Alphonse Roche and Anthony Corbiere, Phi Sigma Iota's historian, primarily pertains to the names and addresses of initiates and graduates, information about the chapters and its members for the national newsletter, and the programs of the chapter meetings. The correspondence is often in French.
