Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The Laura Lee Papers fill one box and span the period 1930-1987. The papers are organized into five categories: biographical materials, correspondence, teaching materials, speeches, and publications.

The Biographical materials, spanning the years 1930-1987 consist mainly of Northwestern faculty biographical records, curricula vitae, college applications, and clippings.

The Correspondence, spanning the years 1955-1979, is primarily comprised of letters expressing gratitude for presentations given by Lee. A separate folder contains messages of condolence to Lee after the death of her husband.

The Teaching files, spanning the years 1966-1979, contain miscellaneous course notes and handouts and the qualifying examinations Lee prepared for Ph.D. Candidates in the School of Speech.

The Speeches file, spanning the years 1967-1977, consists of numerous program books for conferences and clinics at which Lee spoke and the papers and speeches she presented at the conferences.

The Publications, dating from 1959-1977, consist of various articles Lee wrote, the Northwestern University Syntax Screening Test, a report on Grammatical Development, and a review of a book she wrote.
