The Marjorie May Cowan papers are contained in one half-size box and date from 1929-1934, 1949, and 1984. The bulk of the papers consists of Cowan's diaries. During the years 1932 through 1934 she kept detailed accounts of her social and academic activities and interests. Among the entries are characterizations of family friends, and descriptions of several Northwestern faculty and the courses they taught. Faculty members noted include Snyder, Herrold, and Baker Brownell. The series includes a few letters, and a folder of some of Cowan's course papers, along with her review of F.B. Snyder's Life of Robert Burns.
